How long can I stay in Costa Rica with my American or Canadian plated car?

Normally, you can stay 3 months (90 days) in Costa Rica with your American or Canadian plated car, if you exceed this time, the authorities will force you to import the vehicle and get Costa Rican plates, which can cost up to 50% of the fair value as per the Costa Rican authorities.
